Chag Sameach! Passover is just around the corner which means we need a Kosher for Passover meal plan, and this year presents a unique start, with the holiday beginning right after Shabbat ends on Saturday. This means a busy Friday before Erev Pesach and a very late first Seder! We’re already in full swing, cleaning the house, moving up the Pesach supplies from the basement, and gearing up for a week of delicious, Kosher for Passover meals, with options for those needing nut-free and gluten-free choices.

The Kosher for Passover Meal Plan

Erev Shabbat (Friday Night)

Since we’ll be chametz-free, our Shabbat meals will be fully Kosher for Passover:

Shabbat Lunch

Continuing our Kosher for Passover Shabbat:

Seudah Shlishit (early dinner on Saturday)

A lighter, late afternoon meal before the holiday begins:

  • Gefilte Fish
  • Deli Meat
  • Garden Salad with Vinaigrette Dressing

First Seder (Erev Pesach – Saturday Night, very late!)

Our first Seder, starting late after Shabbat ends:

  • Drunken Hassleback Salami (Kosher for Passover mustard works just fine for this. If you don’t have brandy, use a sweet wine.)
  • Roasted Brussel Sprouts
  • Quinoa
  • Fruit Platter
  • Seder Tip: Put out a crudité platter of cut veggies for everyone to nosh on after the Karpas section of the Seder! You can even include guacamole and potato chips!

Passover – Day 1 Lunch

Our first full day of Passover meals:

Second Seder (Sunday Night)

Our second Seder meal:

  • Vegetable Soup with Matza Balls
  • Chicken Schnitzel
  • London Broil with Garlic
  • Vegetarian Paella (made with quinoa or rice, depending on how your family handles kitniyot)
  • Carrot Soufflé
  • Popcorn Cauliflower
  • Roast Potatoes
  • Seder Tip: Our family likes to pass out different options for Haggadot. We use the Maxwell House classic one to help keep the pace, but having Haggadot with different translations, illustrations, and commentary makes the Seder more interesting.

Passover – Day 2 Lunch
