Group Therapy at MAPP

Group therapy involves open discussion and skill-building activities facilitated by a clinician who helps members of the group with a range of issues. Although engaging in therapy with people you don’t know can seem intimidating, it can help to put your own problems in perspective. Groups act as a support network and sounding board for the challenges you are currently facing and they bring people together who can relate to one another. It can come as a relief to hear others discuss what they are going through and understand that you are not alone.

Current Groups at Mid-Atlantic Pediatric Partners

The Mindfulness Matters group is a great fit for your child or adolescent who is having a hard time managing their emotions. Diagnoses of children in this group range from depression, anxiety, ADHD, etc. This is an 8-week group that your child can join at any point. Skills will build upon one another and be reiterated throughout the course of the curriculum.

Group leader, Dyuti Ganesh, utilizes playfulness and engaging games, activities, and demonstrations to teach core mindfulness skills that your child can incorporate into their day-to-day lives. The goal is to learn mindfulness skills and techniques that can be adapted to help with self-regulating emotions in a variety of settings.
